Lazarev Saturday is an unusual holiday when the church recalls how Jesus Christ wept upon learning of the death of his friend Lazarus. Lazarus is the person to whom Jesus Christ restored life on the 4th day after his death. At the time of his death, Lazarus was a revered Jew from Bethany (a village near Jerusalem). After the resurrection, according to church tradition, Lazarus lived for another 30 years, and then, like all people, he died - in the rank of Bishop of Kition, now the island of Cyprus.
