On this day I always remember my graduation work at an art school, it was called that - Palm Sunday! There was a picture of a vase with a pussy willow on the windowsill, and in the background a village church and people going to the service ...
I still remember how these fluffy buds on the willow were drawn every lesson! I think it can hit the art again)))

The entry of the Lord into Jerusalem!

The entry of Jesus into the city on a donkey was associated with the fact that in the time of Christ all earthly kings and conquerors entered Jerusalem on donkeys or horses, and the people greeted them with shouts and waves of palm branches.

In Judea conquered by Rome, the palm tree was one of the symbols of virtue and closeness to God.
In our climate, the willow is the first to come to life and bloom after winter, so for a long time its branches were used instead of palm branches. Hence the name of the holiday - Palm Sunday.

Today we can talk about Palm Sunday as a spring holiday preceding Bright Resurrection. It means rebirth for us, brings hope for the future, allows us to start new business with a firm faith that God is with us!

Christ entered the city not as a conqueror or an earthly king, but as a king of the Kingdom of Heaven and a conqueror of sin and death. And he knew what awaited him, consciously going to death for the sake of all living. Jesus entered the city and the people joyfully greeted him: he sang songs of praise, waved palm branches and strewn the path with flowers, so that exactly a week later they would hear the same voices screaming - crucify him ..

The Lord's entry into Jerusalem precedes a Passion Week, which ends with the Easter of Christ. The most difficult week begins when they remember the last days of the Savior's earthly life, as well as his death on the cross and burial.
