The International Fund for the Protection of Animals came up with this holiday not only to cheer furry couch potatoes, but also to draw attention to the problems of stray cats.

Holidays dedicated to these fluffy pets are in many countries.
In Russia, the Day of cats is celebrated on March 1st.
In Poland - February 17.
In Japan - February 22.
In the USA they are celebrated on October 29.
But at the international level, the holiday appeared only in 2002. It was created by the International Fund for the Protection of Animals and has been held annually since then.
